What Happened To Smylie Kaufman?

You may know him as one of golf’s “Spring Break” boys. Smylie Kaufman, the 26-year-old golfer from Alabama is most commonly known for his trips to the Bahamas with fellow golfers Rickie Fowler, Jordan Spieth, and Justin Thomas. Unfortunately for Kaufman, partying in the Bahamas is what he’s best known for at this time, not for his steller golf play.

Fowler, the 6th ranked golfer in the world is coming off his best finish in a major with a solo second place finish at the 2018 Masters. Spieth, who is 3rd in the world, is a three time major champion and will have his second shot at the career grand slam when he tees it up at Bellerive in August. And Thomas, who recently took over the top spot in the world rankings is, well, looking just like that…the top golfer in the world. And then there’s Kaufman, who doesn’t really fit into the group right now.

Kaufman currently sits ranked 373rd in the world and continues to drop as the weeks go by. Since his maiden victory on the PGA Tour in 2016 when he captured the Shriners Hospital for Children Open with a dazzling Sunday 61, things have gone off the rails for him.
